An image posted on the X with ‘The Washington Post’ logo reported that American analyst Jacqueline Alemany claimed the interim Bangladeshi government finalized a list of 67 senior military officials, including General Waker-uz-Zaman, and 3,872 military personnel to be dismissed. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina fled the country, and Chief Justice Obaidul Hasan resigned, leading to an interim government headed by Dr. Muhammad Yunus initiating a large-scale army restructuring, which could cause military dissatisfaction and further political instability. A report allegedly from The Washington Post, authored by American journalist and political analyst Jacqueline Alemany, claims that the interim government has finalized a list of 67 senior military officials, including Army Chief General Waker-uz-Zaman, and 3,872 military personnel to be dismissed. The report is dated October 21.
Upon investigation, it was found that there is no such report on Jacqueline Alemany’s X account or in her author profile on The Washington Post’s website. We also found that even the name of the author was spelt wrong in the viral image. The viral image wrote the name as ‘Jackie Alemany’ whereas the actual name of the author is ‘Jacqueline Alemany.’
Additionally, no such report can be found on The Washington Post’s website or its social media profiles (Facebook and X)
