Fact check: Is Tarique Rahman Returning To The Country After Hearing The News Of Khaleda Zia’s Demise? Know The Truth Behind The Viral Video

Recently,  a video on the social media platform TikTok went viral, claiming that Tarique Rahman is returning to the country after hearing the news of Khaleda Zia’s death. The viral video also claimed that Tarique Rahman and his wife, Zubaida Rahman, had arrived at the airport to return home. Tarique Rahman and his wife, Zubaida Rahman, are seen in the video. Fact

To verify the authenticity of the video claiming Tarique Rahman’s return to the country after hearing the news of Khaleda Zia’s death, we initially conducted a reverse image search. The search revealed that the video is not recent, and no decision regarding Tarique Rahman’s return to the country has been made yet.

The reverse image search led us to the video on the official Instagram handle of the BNP (Bangladesh Nationalist Party). The video was uploaded on the BNP’s Insta-handle on January 17, 2025. Watch the video here.

The caption and the publication date of the video confirm that the incident is not recent but rather from January of this year when Khaleda Zia travelled to London for advanced treatment. See the related reports here RTV ও Deepto TV।

Additionally, the news of Khaleda Zia’s death is also a rumour. According to the latest update, Khaleda Zia’s condition remains stable as before. There has been neither improvement nor deterioration in her condition. Bangladeshi and foreign doctors are working on her treatment. This matter was confirmed by Dr. A Z M Zahid Hossain, a member of the BNP Standing Committee, in a press conference.
