The original video, from which the viral clip was segmented, was posted on November 25, 2010, on the YouTube channel ‘Herman Van Rompuy,’ as revealed by a reverse image search on the viral video.
The footage captures a meeting between Sheikh Hasina, then Prime Minister of Bangladesh, and Herman Van Rompuy, who was at the time the President of the European Council. This information is derived from the description accompanying the original video. See related reports here- 1 & 2.
A Report published in The Daily Star on November 21, 2010, stated that Sheikh Hasina was on tours to Russia, Belgium, and Japan at that time. As part of the tour, she met with Herman Van Rompuy, then President of the European Council, and Jose Manuel Barroso, President of the European Commission, in Brussels on November 25.
In other words, the video is not from any recent meeting.
Therefore, an old video of a meeting between Sheikh Hasina, then Prime Minister of Bangladesh, and Herman Van Rompuy, then President of the European Council, from 2010 has been circulated, claiming it shows footage of Sheikh Hasina’s direct meeting in recent times; false.
