To verify the claim, keyframes from the video were analyzed using reverse image search, leading to a YouTube video published on November 23, 2019, by a channel named Sting Newz. The video, titled “What Did Bangladesh’s Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Say Upon Arriving in Kolkata?”, contains visuals that match the footage used in the circulated claim. See the video here.
Bangladesh’s Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina attended the opening of India’s first pink-ball Test match at Eden Gardens, accompanied by Sourav Ganguly, then-President of the BCCI, and Mamata Banerjee, Chief Minister of West Bengal. This was confirmed in a report on the Sangbad Pratidin YouTube channel.
Notably, the original video used in the viral TikTok clip was published on March 4 by mainstream media outlet Ekushey TV on its YouTube channel under the title “What is Known About Sheikh Hasina’s Meeting with the US Intelligence Chief“, where the claim was fact-checked. However, the viral TikTok video was edited and manipulated to falsely present it as a mainstream media report confirming the claim.
Therefore, an old video of Sheikh Hasina’s Kolkata visit is being circulated to falsely claim that Bangladesh’s former Prime Minister has recently met with the U.S. National Intelligence Chief Tulsi Gabbard in Kolkata. This claim is false.
