Fact

To verify the incident’s authenticity, a reverse image search was conducted on key frames from the video (archive). The search revealed a Facebook account named Rabbi Khan, which had posted a video in the group ‘Our Rajshahi’ on July 2, 2024, with the caption ‘Sudden fire in Cox’s Bazar Rohingya camp.

The circulated video was confirmed to be not recent by comparing it to a video posted in a Facebook group and finding similarities. Further confirmation was found by comparing the fire footage in the circulated video to the footage in a news report aired on Ekattor TV’s YouTube channel on June 1st; similarities in the fire scene and surrounding environment were evident.

Result: False
