Newschecker has verified this claim and found it to be false.
Fact-Check:
Upon verifying the video, Newschecker has found that a video circulated online does not show a Jamaat cadre throwing a building owner from a building due to extortion. Instead, the video depicts a family dispute that occurred in March of this year in Ramu, Cox’s Bazar. In this incident, nephew Shawon Barua pushed his uncle, Ronotosh Barua, into an under-construction septic tank during a land dispute.
Our investigation uncovered a video report published on ATN News’s YouTube channel on March 9. The report detailed a long-standing land dispute between Santosh Barua and his step-brother Ronotosh Barua in the Uttar Srikul area of Fatekharkul Union in Ramu Upazila. This dispute escalated on the morning of March 8, when Santosh Barua’s son, Shawon Barua (a resident of Japan), allegedly pushed his uncle, Ronotosh Barua, into an under-construction septic tank, causing severe injuries. The video featured in the ATN News report is consistent with the widely circulated video.
